Wait, the weekend is over?

The dreaded Monday.
Alarm clock sounds.
As I swat violently at it, I try to convince myself that it is still the weekend and I can sleep a little longer. Then I remember its actually Monday- I have to get up, out of my warm haven of a bed and trudge to work.  As I slowly wander through my morning routine I am always slapped with an enormous sense of guilt for not completing all of my idealized goals from the past weekend.
My long to-do list streams through my mind.  The laundry that was folded but not put away.  The meal prep intentions that never got finished.  The oil change that got skipped due to an elongated Target trip.  The implications of these missed accomplishments pile up and my guilt and regret immediately follow.
Each week I look forward to a Monday AM full of missed weekend opportunities.

I've recently decided I am sick of the weekly guilt trip.
I work hard all week.  I don't deserve to feel terrible after a well deserved "break" from working.  So I have decided to embrace a new take on the Monday.
As soon as the weekend "to-do's" start trudging into my memory I pull out my planner for the coming week and allocate some of those missed opportunities to be taken care of during the week instead.  Instead of waking up at 5am on Wed, I will wake up at 4:50 and put away that basket of laundry that I forgot.  Prior to the gym on Thursday I will drive my car to get the oil changed.  And in leui of my meditation time on Tuesday, I will try to get some of the meal prep done.
This has led to me needing to wake a little earlier a few days a week.  It has also led to me feeling more accomplished all week long.  Finally it has allowed for my weekends to be a little less task filled and my monday am regrets to be a little less stressful.

I use my Google calander to allot for these 15 minute to-dos but know people who use lists, wall calanders, phone alerts, and work calanders to track these missed weekend opportunities.  I have found that by not allowing the stress of these "leftovers" to hinder my new week, I am more capable of productivity than ever.

So now I wake up on Mondays, just in full hate of the alarm.
